Seeing a GP for a referral is usually the way to go
Yes,definitely.
Yes, unless you are willing to pay.
ummm is right, I assumed you meant on the NHS.
What is the problem if you don't mind me asking?
My daughter is 6 and has flat feet like me, wondering if she ought to be seen to have inserts in her shoes.

she has pain on the underneath/side of her foot. it gets swollen and red and very very sore.
She has been to dr, but he suggested plantar fasciitis. I have that myself, and hers seems to be in a completely different area. Mine doesn't swell or go red either.
She's almost 12, and dreads PE because of it!
The plantar fascia is a big area - I wasn't sure if I had it initially as it wasn't in the area I thought it should be but nurse I saw confirmed it and said she could feel how tense it was.

I saw a podiatrist- for another problem, not plantar fasciitis - after being referred by my GP to a local clinical assessment and treatment service (Greater Manchester CATS - brilliant service!) after havig pain and swelling on one of my feet for months. I saw a specialist and was referred for an MRI scan which showed bursitis and odema they think is rhumatoid arthritis related then to a podiatrist due to the result and was given orthortics.

Excellent service, very quick. They have large lorry type clinic which are in random car parks including various scanners, they do things like physio and ENT stuff too.
Oh bless her, I've only ever heard of adults having it. Hope you manage to get her referred, not fair for her to be suffering like that :(
