Whenever I go out in the cold, like for a walk or on my bike, I always get earache.

I'm sat here now with my scarf wrapped around my head, trying to warm them up, but it really hurts.

Is this normal/common?

I have found the best way to stop the earache .....is to get into a drunken stupor. Then it's in one ear out the other.

;-)
I get this as well around the outside of the ear ... wear a woolly hat ! It does help.

I think I am going to have to go down the hat route, aren't I.

Thanks for the answers. Glad it's nothing new for me to worry about :-)
I stand corrected - I never have earache, so if I got it, I would assume there is an underlying cause - seems it is common in cold weather.

Thanks Andy :-)
I get it too....painful at the time and agony as you warm up again.

Well that's the thing. It didn't seem *that* bad as I was walking home. It hurt, yes, but it was more painful when I got into the warmth of my house.

i get it too, i had brain freeze this morning it was so bad
Get a hat MM. It does't matter what you look like.

I was really light-headed when I came home. I'm sure it was brain freeze also!

Mazie, I resemble Mr Potato head with a hat on.... but I will have a look.
hoodie's MM, hoodies, unless the wind is against you, then they don't work so well.....
Question Author
I had a hoodie and a scarf. The wind was indeed against me, and kept pushing them down :-(

I felt the same MM but when it's really cold I don't give a whatsit! I found one that doesn't look too bad on me. Go and have a hat trying on session :o)
ahhh but you have to tie your scarf around your head and look like a peasant (my boss's words)

Lol. I'll remember that word 'peasant' the next time :-)

I'm looking at hats online now. Supposed to be looking for a bloody job.

You need to go into the shop and try a few on MM...See which one suits you and give all the other shoppers a good laugh ;o)

Lol. Sorry, only just seen your answer. I wasn't offended. Honest.... :P

Accessorise do some nice hats and the ones with the earbits which come down are good and don't make your head look so round :)

TKMaxx had some nice hats too, when I last looked anyway. H&M usually too though most of the winter ones are disappearing now.

My ears don't like the cold either, I usually have a hat and a hood up, I'm sure I look ridiculous but at least I'm not so cold :) I reluctantly ditched my puffy jacket with a fluffy hood, I looked like a puffed up Eskimo (with walking stick) but it was sooo warm and had a hood that didn't blow down.

Thanks Eve. I always look at hats and think "oooh that's nice" then try them on, and it's a no no.
I have bitten the bullet today though, and bought a trapper hat. Looks ever so warm! :-)
