ouch waylen, sounds like a pulled muscle, it can take quite a while for the body to start moaning. Is there any bruising? How did you shift the brute?

am not a medic, but the sciatic nerve is the longest one in the body.
Runs from buttocks to the ankles and is seriously a great pain.
Have you pulled a muscle?
waylen......I agree with alba....that doesn't sound like sciatica.

Have you taken any pain killers...if so....which ones and what dose?

I note that you are female...how old? and if premenstrual when was your last period?

Yeah, Alba, I`ve thought it could be that, just wasn`t sure about the time factor. Stupid thing to do at my age. Ipushed and pulled! Many thanks for your help.
I agree with alba.
Just a final thought.......have a feel in your groin....is there a swelling?
Could be a hernia, but again.......I agree with alba.
Don't want to scare you waylen but might it be a DVT? I had agonising pain in the top of my leg down to my knee 6 months ago, doc said it might be a DVT which I didn't believe. Got sent to the hospital and a massive clot was found from groin to knee. Maybe you should get checked out xx
My sciatica (and most of my former clients) had it mostly from lower back, across buttock/hip flexors, and down the side of the leg. When really bad, it goes all the way to the toes. It feels a bit like electric shocks and stabbing pains at the same time.

In saying that, I was taught during my diploma that sciatica can sometimes be experienced down the front of the leg too. But more than likely, how strained a muscle. Did you sort of do the 'splits' when you slipped? ie: i leg slid forward more? if so, I would assume that it was the leg that stayed back that is now painful.

Rest, ice (up until 72hrs after accident) and then heat and epsom salts baths can help. Local anti-inflammatory cream can also be good. But as masma pointed out, there could be other causes worth investigating.

Good luck!
