Is This 'normal'?

Since himself came out of hospital he has slept virtually non-stop (up for five or ten minutes twice a day), he's hardly eaten (cheese sandwich and a bowl of cornflakes yesterday, nothing so far today) and he still has a terrible headache. Thanks.

sherr, would you think of ringing the ward he was in for some advice. im sure they wouldn't mind you calling.

Yes, ring them sherr. Is he still vomiting? I think you said he was yesterday?

He was sick yesterday evening (not a lot, but then he hasn't eaten much).

There is no such thing as normal and it varies from person to person and recovery is longer if the aneurysm ruptured....I cannot remember if this was the case in youOH

At this stage I wouldn't worry too much, just give him pain,killers for the headache. Just make sure that he is rousable and monitor the situation for a few days.

I agree , contact the department and ask - on discharge it would have been helpful if they had given you a few guidelines as to what may happen and what to report back on.

The sleeping is natural healing of course and his appetite will be suppressed too. Get some reassurance please and you will feel more secure.

Right, he's up and having a sandwich and a cup of tea. Won't take his strong pan killers because 'they knock him out' (bloody men!). (Sqad, yes, it did rupture.)

Mamy - they did give me guidelines but they didn't say anything about the sleep.

Well if he is as Sqad says rousable and able to converse and take some nourishment that is a good sign.

I think I am panicking a bit as I am the only adult around.

That is perfectly normal and natural, as for the pain relief all you can do is advise him, maybe take slightly less often when he may need some sleep ?

He's surprisingly perky this evening, been downstairs and eaten something. Daft sod was even offering to drive boy #1 to his friend's house next week (I don't bloody think so!).

There will be highs and lows, enjoy the good times and let him rest when he wants to and yes you are right no driving. LOL Good sign though.
