recently my both knees are really painfull and weak when bending, one knee in particular is very bad and when i stand on one leg the knee will not support my weight and go from beneath me, my doc says its all to do with access drinking alcohol lol lol i asked her how this could be and she told me that drinking in excess damages the bones ? rubbish me thinks, because i pulled my back very badly in work a few months ago and she told me that was alcohol related ....anyway is there anything i can do with my knees to mend them ? im on omega 3 and cod liver oil capsules now but apparently these can cause cancer !!! ? my god i might as well just be done with now lol seriously i need to try to mend this problem now, dont want to be hobbling about on walking stick , im 46 by the way, used to do loads of running about 7 mile everyday on treadmill plus weights but havent been to gym in few months, im really concerned about them but no piont in going to see doc again is there ?
I actually left the doctors' practise I'd been with from birth when I was 45 because they employed an 'idiot' doctor. Every time I went to see him he blamed all my problems on my being a smoker (this included a sports injury) and somehow thought it was his mission in life to ensure everyone (no matter what you went to see him about) had a tetanus jab.
My nephew on the other hand is not an idiot doctor.
Ann...I have seen no "robust" medical evidence that taking omega 3 supplements has any beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system or indeed the improvement in joint disorders.
Thanks Sqad, if it is even a small risk to his health I may stop him taking them - it would be cheaper! What do you think of Glucosamine then, we take that with the Omega 3 daily. I certainly know by my joint pain if I miss taking a few doses of those.
Have you ever tried Gluosamine and Chondroitin. I had a really painfull shoulder a few years ago and my doctor told me to live with it but another doctor advised me to try the above, which I did. I took it for 2-3 years and now my shoulder feels like new. I got mine from Healthspan in Guernsey.
lol lol sqad you're clutching at straws with that one.............my smoking related injury at the time was I'd fallen when playing tennis and broken some bones in my foot.
We order from Healthspan, Quizzkid, but somewhere in my mind I remember a doctor telling OH that due to his BP meds he should avoid Glucosamine combined with Chondroitin, so we only take the ordinary ones 1000mg. Don't know if that info was right?
