Sleeping Badly

I haven't had a good nights sleep in weeks. I fall asleep fine but wake up two or three times a night. It's making me miserable in the day time (I have become a glass half-full prison and I am getting pissed off with it). Is there anything I can do or is it just me to those things? Thanks.

If I have lots on my mind I tend to wake up a lot in the night, usually every 2 hours. Once things get sorted I revert back to my normal dreaming for England type of sleep... I believe you've had a lot on lately sherr, so that could be the reason for it.
don't you mean glass half empty?
as they say the bridge between despair and hope is a good nights sleep

Maybe Mazie, usually sleep like a flipping log, especially when the kids are on holidays.

Correct Bednobs, glass half-empty - see, I am so used to being a glass half-full sort.
Could you take something like Nytol for a few nights to get back into a good sleep pattern
It could be that you just need to break the bad sleep pattern. You could see the Doc for some sleeping pills, jut a few nights worth maybe.

I don't want to take anything that knocks me out in case someone needs me in the night. Maybe it will sort it's self out when I have to get up earlier to get the kids to school.
I feel the same about pill sherr. Hope it sorts itself out for you. Right, Im off. Night, night, sleep well x
You're worrying about your OH, when he improves you'll be able to sleep again. I hope he has a speedy recovery like Tonyav, then you can relax, huds xx
This is just me, but I cannot understand why a pill is such a no-no to some people. Science has provided a pill for ailments, what is the harm in taking something to help you sleep? I do.
Some years ago there was a big problem giving myself and husband sleepless nights. Horlicks before bed helped us to sleep much better.
Chrissa, I am like Sherrard in this respect. Its not that taking a pill is a no no but you do need to know that (acts of god excluded) you won't have to leap up and be alert in the night. Sherrard, is there anything in particular stressing you? I find stopping all caffeine helps if I am wakeful.
Sorry that was a stupid question (stress) me and my big mouth and foot. I am amazed you can sleep at all at present.
I think the adrenaline is still going around from the recent stress. I'd avoid caffeine from about 2pm and hopefully will sort itself as you relax a bit more. I'm getting less sleep while the kids are off, too.

I'm not anti tablets, but I have young children that might need me. If one of them was ill in the night I would have to be on the case (sneaky so and so's tend to do their best vomiting in the dead of night).
Fair enough, sherr. I'm retired now, so no young'uns to look after. I hope your sleep settles down soon.
Question Author
Don't think I am worried about himself, if you saw him you wouldn't believe he'd been poorly. Maybe it's subconscious and I'm waking up to check he's ok.
sherrard it takes a while for the stress to dissipate, your mind processes the horrible stuff after the event.
I suffer teribly with insomnia at times and the doc gave me a leaflet to help.

So other than eating it I have now have decaff drinks (tea for me) at least an hour before bed, stop using electronic gadgets such as computer or game consoles again at least an hor before bed time. Sit quietly for half an hour and have a routine. Jimjams, teeth bed.

Don't read or watch telly or stuff like that just sit in bed for 5 minutes quietly for five minuets and then switch off the light and go to sleep.

If you wake up, get up and sit for five minuets in a chair in a different room and when you get sleepy or bored go back to bed. Keep doing that untill you get used to sleeping in bed rather than fretting.
