Maybe a strange question, but we were wondering why the old woden doors a long time ago have a heart in it. There must be an explanation. All of them had Hearts not a flower. Why was that? What's the story about this funny hole in the doors.

In the US they more traditionally have a half-moon, not a heart. Google outhouse doors for some theories that don't sound very plausible to me. None of them mention hearts.
