Almost a bubble car - the steering wheel isn't attached the door.  I suppose it would be okay for driving a few miles to work and back every day but I wouldn't feel safe in one

Basically an improved Sinclair C5 with a roof?

No I wouldn't have one - with increasing age/weight/joint problems small cars are a no-no. SUVs for me now.😊

No. For the two reasons stated in the title.

I'll stick with the jaaag.

Hmmm.

No crumple zones.

No air bags.

I think I'll pass!

Any lights ?

No! It looks silly.

Has it got a reverse gear? Trouble with the old bubble cars being front loaders, if you got too close to something, not only could you not get out, you couldn't reverse out of the way either.

That's probably why they were marketed at morons.

The still exist today but they drive Teslas.

oh - and there's still the problem that millions of drivers won't be able to recharge their car battery at home. (flat dwellers/terraced streets/etc,)

Question Author

That applies to all electric vehicles, but they've got around the problem of terraced streets. If you can park in the road outside your house you can pay to have a channel put across the pavement for the cable.  It has a cover so it is not a trip hazard.

Chargers are being installed in to lamp posts and other street furniture but there will always be properties that can't charge a car

Nope. Electric vehicles are totally unnecessary and are just for posers and show-boaters.

I was amused by the new Shell advert on TV (it starts with an engineer) about providing power to the nation - 6 months after they ducked out of the domestic power supply market!!!!

Question Author

They advertise this car as being able to park bumper to kerb.  Very dangerous where other cars are parked side to kerb as the driver would be blind when reversing out and oncoming traffic wouldn't expect it.   If you reversed in to the space you would be stepping in to the traffic when you got out.

Also anybody who needed to check for blue badge or parking ticket would have to walk in to the road to look at the dashboard.

Hypocrites. That sums all this gubbins up. It's about money, not health or the environment or saving the planet etc. They want your money and will scare the carp out of you to try and get it.

Question Author

I haven't seen it, dave.  What exactly are they advertising?

Question Author

They get our money whatever sort of vehicle we choose to drive, 10C

I wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole - safety lacking and I am dead against tricity what with the battery issue and then that half of our electricity is generated from N-gas so it's pushing the use of hydrocarbons up the line and more out of sight - and then the Porsche/Siemens hydrocarbon synthesis project from natural CO2 in Chile and now upscaled - which means that conventional cars can 'rent' CO2 from the air. I am in favour of petrol/diesel hybrid technology and things like DRS coming through from F1.

Question Author

All I can say in favour of this little car is that it is probably safer than a scooter or moped for a new driver and its speed is limited to 56 mph.  Could be good for a younger driver especially as it can only carry 2 people

barry - I think Shell's advert is basically recruiting engineering apprentices but it focuses very much on green tech without much mention of oil & gas.

They had an advert banned last summer cos it was all about wind & solar - effectively hiding the core of their business.
