Evening....I woke up almost completely deaf this morning so I saw another GP.....

He is one I like and trust but a little confirmation never hurts....

I have no wax and very shiny eardrums which would suggest not glue ear. He did lots of tests with a tuning fork and...because he doesn't do this often got out a reference book.....I like that.

The results of the tuning fork pinging told him the problem was conductive and not a nerve problem......I like that too....well conductive seems the better of the two.

He has referred me to E.N.T. ....bypassing audiology if another doctor in the practice agrees....there have to be two signatures for this referral. If a second doctor won't agree I have to go to audiology....that seems to be the usual route.... who will then refer me to E.N.T.

Seems a faff to me...but heyho....I'm used to faff now.....☺

Am I on the right track do you both think?

Thanks Gx

.\\\\\My GP isn't available til Friday....\\\\

***, it's only Tuesday................where is he?

Do you mean that there is no appt until Friday?

I suppose it's because the Sqads of the NHS are no longer there..... same with education....those who want to do it properly get worn down by the suits and red tape.....
It is bloody wearing though.....trying to make these appointments yourself and doing it through non medical people with no leeway for what might be a bit more urgent.....we just join the end of the queue no matter.

I might look for a homeopath.....☺
@gness good luck with that then :) I am sure that a homeopath with solve everything for you, straight away, no fuss, no worries, and will probably pay you for the privilege too ;)

I don't know where he is Sqad...his telephone appointments are full for today....but I should get one if I phone at 8am on Friday.....
I can speak to someone else if I accept that should I need a prescription I am prepared to travel to the next town.....only five miles I know but something is going very wrong....x
This makes me feel like shouting at someone - a disgrace and not what I spent umpteen years in the NHS for.
"if another doctor in the practice agrees....there have to be two signatures for this referral."

Do you think Sqad would sign? :)

Ho Gness x
Question Author
Thanks, Dave.....you can shout at me if you like.....won't hear you otherwise.

I must say this silent world is odd......not a whisper from the kitchen appliances this morning.....no noise from traffic....not knowing when someone comes up behind you...and it's where the kids I worked with lived all the time.... :-(
Question Author
Hi, Society....I think anyone asking Sqad to abide by those rules would soon regret it.....I do have the two signatures now though...aren't I the lucky one?.....☺
Hope all goes well for you. Best of luck, Gness.
gness as you know I am partially deaf and have to say when ENT was involved it was quite quick.

This is not a funny thing now as deafness to a fully hearing person would be terrifying. I would insist on your GP referring to ENT urgently as you can tell them you are frightened now. JJCon xxx

Thanks,Society....I'll do my best, Conne.......xx
The end of March is unacceptable - I know GPs are under huge pressure not to refer in to hospital, but I do despair!
If you do decide to rock up to A&E, make sure there is a large ENT Department there.
ps if you can't hear the phone would you have your family or friend to make the call for you.

I'll suss out hospitals, Slaney.....I have had dealing with Kettering...they took out my tonsils by mistake....and then made me swallow dry toast! What happened to ice cream and jelly?

I could, Conne and may have to if it carries on......bet that's not allowed...oh I'm getting so cynical......☺
Question Author
The GP called......he says a two week wait is not unreasonable as he has heard of much longer...at least he can hear.....unless they think it is cancer which they don't and there is no sign of infection either.

I can be seen privately tomorrow at the same clinic....that really annoys me.
I'll mull that over this afternoon.....goes against the grain a bit.

I have found a local homeopath though.....nothing to lose there I suppose...well a bit of cash and they make you talk which I don't like but we shall see.
"they make you talk which I don't like"

?
Oh. You were being serious about seeing a homeopath. I thought you were joking :)

Its your money I guess...
just thought I say I'm thinking of you gness xxx
Hope it gets sorted very soon x

Believe it or not.....I don't, Shoota.....an appointment of an hour talking about myself.....I really don't like.....

But I like even less not being in control and I don't feel I am now....I feel at the mercy of sniffy receptionists and a crumbling health care system.

Thanks, Albs...x

LG...I was joking.....but in frustration I am now willing to give anything a go.. I know a good acupuncturist too......and a chap with two spirit guides....☺
