What with all the make up free selfies that have been floating around on FB over the last few days, I've noticed that it looks like people are wearing mascara but I presume it's the eye lash extensions.

Has anyone on here had them done? They look good and I'm wondering if it's worth getting them done for my holiday so I don't have to take any make up (or make up remover) with me.

What d'ya reckon ladies?

It's something I've seriously considered for my last few holidays but never actually taken the plunge. I would say that for the last 2 years I've used Rapidlash serum (about £23 from Amazon) and it made an amazing difference to my very average lashes, they are so much longer.

Ooh, I'll have a look at that, thanks Prudie.

I've just had a look at prices for these lashes and vary wildly, from £20 for a set up to £85. That's a years supply of mascara and remover for me!
Like you I'd be interested to hear from someone who's had them, I wonder if they last through 2 weeks of swimming and general rough treatment!

Funny how my legs can be so hairy - yet my eyelashes - nothing!

That's what I'm wondering too, don't want to lay out a few quid just for them to fall off in the swimming pool.

Ricror, it's always the way isn't it, the only place that I'm lucky and bald is under my arms :)
I wish Rocky
I even thought I had a hair growing on my hand the other day - the palm!!!!

Lol, you werewolf :)
I wanted to have them done, I recall asking in a department store about them (at a time when I was swimming regularly) and as I recall it wasn't recommended if you swam a lot; I think it was the same for having your lashes tinted which I've had done in the past.
Question Author
Hmmm, that's a no goer then. Not that I swim a lot, rather just cool down but I don't want to be worrying about my lashes.

Oh well, looks like I'm packing the mascara and checking out Prudie's stuff on Amazon.

Thanks China :)
I haven't had them done myself although I am tempted but my SIL has been having hers done for a couple of years. I think they are around £20 and they seem to last a few weeks, she doesn't go swimming but I would have thought having a shower or washing your face would effect them just as much if getting them wet was a problem.
I have my eyelashes tinted about every 6 weeks, seems fine on holiday when I do swim quite a lot.............
I get my pale and short eyelashes tinted too. I don't think they fade as such just that there is a turnover of loss and re growth which is natural.

Might have to investigate extensions though for future reference.
Is that sea swimming or pool swimming craft? I wonder if that makes a difference? (I was pool swimming a lot). I'd quite like lash extensions.
Question Author
I'm going to investigate this more as a bit of googling suggests they are safe for swimming (sea or pool) as long as you let the adhesive set for 48 hours after they've been done. Maybe that's also the difference in cost, you get what you pay for.
Come back with what you find out :c)
I used to have them done. £45 a time and they'd last about 3-4 weeks. Complete luxury and, in muy opinion, a rip-off.
If you want something for holiday I would get them tinted.

Personally, I'm quite happy to do the au-natural thing now. Honestly can't be arsed.

Well ladies I've found out a little bit more. I went out with a friend last night and apparently she's been using them for ages, they do look very good. She went on two summer holidays last year and didn't give a thought about them while she was in and out of the sea and the pool, after she came back the last time she didn't need to get them touched up for 6 weeks (thought she did say that was unusual and it's normally 4 weeks).

She's still in bed at the moment so I'm going to see what they look like when she gets up, though I suspect they'll look nice as when she's stayed before I just though she must use really good mascara :)

Boo, yak!

Babysham, I've had them tinted before and it made absolutely no difference as my lashes are quite dark anyway.
Question Author
Well she got up and they still look fab so I might give them a test drive before my holiday, just to make sure I'm not allergic.
I had my eyelashes permed with amazing results. You don't need to wear mascara at all with them. They last about 8 weeks. Xx
