I am posting this as i believe that Fred departed this life and i feel that he should not go unappreciated.
He came onto the AB some two years ago and immediately his posts, based mainly on personal experience, were discussed openly and gave great insight and advice to those that had a problem with alcohol. His knowledge of the law and current affairs were invaluable assets to the threads of Answerbank.
The vast majority of ABers are “ships in the night” and soon forgotten but i felt that Fred deserved more and this post is just to say “ Thank you Fred for your contributions.”
It is extremely likely that a complication of Alcoholism took his life.

thanks for the post sqad. rip fred.
Thank you for posting this Sqad - I know that he was quite ill and he felt that he would have some time left amongst us at AB.

I have been worried about him, as you say a knowledgeable man with a sense of humour and very open about his alcohol problems.

I was hoping that Barmaid would be able to confirm Fred's demise but she has not been posting lately.

I liked 'Fred'.
Sqad - I believe that Fred had previous usernames - Fredpuli with numbers following.
sorry to hear this, if true. he is/was a gent.
agree with all of the above r.i.p fred
I'm sorry to hear this too. A few of us had noticed he hadn't posted recently, but i didn't know he was ill. RIP, fred xx
Oh I am so sorry to hear this, God bless you Fred x
oh dear how sad..rip Fred
I always enjoyed Fred's posts and hadn't appreciated how serious his health issues were.

I would like to think he'll drop in quoting Mark Twain.
Thank you, Sqad....Fred was a lovely man. When he posted about his illness it was in true "Fredpuli" style.......x
How do you know that Fred is dead?
If he has died I am very sorry to hear that.
I was beginning to wonder why I hadn't seen his name around for so long and was not even aware that he was ill. Sad news, indeed, for me and I probably knew him for longer than anyone else on AnswerBank. You see, we were both fixtures on an American Q and A website for years before we 'migrated' to AB.
If his passing is confirmed, "Cheers, Fred; it was good knowing you."
Thanks, sqad.

Sad news.
I kind of thought this might be the case. Fred, now you know who of the R and S brigade is right!
Thanks Sqad, a good memorial to Fred
i miss seeing him on ab & know he was seriously ill, but how do you know he died?
I always found Fred's posts to be straightforward, witty and packed with wonderful life experience too.

I shall miss him if the OP is right.
Well posted, sqad... Sorry for fred, though... r.i.p fred!
Very sorry to hear that. RIP Fred x
