Its sold to help with period pain and IBS. As with all meds, read the instructions carefully, do not exceed the stated dose, stop taking and see your doc if you get any side effects and do not take if allergic to any of the ingredients. This med can make you woozy or sleepy, best to try for the first time at a time where you are not at work or driving a car. Personally I think a bag of frozen peas is the best but its a bit difficult to carry of fnonchalantly in public!
Exercises to stretch the lower back can also help, have you seen a physio?
Hi Peri - you poor soul! Haven't got a suggestion for a pain killer but just wanted to sympathise! I suffered really badly with sciatica for a few weeks earlier in the year - I couldn't get any relief from the pain. I couldn't sit, stand, walk or lie down without being in agony!
I did get mild relief from ice packs and found my yoga class helpful. I also went for acupuncture. Tried Neurofen but I might as well have taken a Smartie for all the good it did!
Funnily enough, the day I seemed to 'turn the corner' and the pain eased a bit was after I had been walking about quite a bit.
I've subsequently been to a chiropractor, albeit about something else and did mention to him about the sciatica. He did give me some treatment although I told him there is no way I could have let him near me when I was at my worst - I was just in too much pain!
Hope you get some relief soon! Take care.
Sorry you're having a bad time Peri. I've no miracle cures I'm afraid, (as soon as I find one I'll let you know!) I've avoided the heavy duty painkillers up to now. Have you ever tried or thought about a TENS machine? They seem to be getting cheaper & I think you can even hire them to see if they suit. Hope you feel better soon.
ps I ache so much tonight & it's very chilly here so I've put my leccy blanket on - I could have sworn it was August not October!! It should be up to toast temp now so I'm off to snuggle in! night x
