How does Diuretics work - ( i know it makes you want to go more frequently -i.e. increases the production of urine ) but how exactly does it do that ?

Bazile......a word of advice ........don't go down that road of wnating to know the pharmacology of diuretics.
In terms that we ALL understand is that the filtering of the kidney and the re absorption of the water from the urine is affected by diuretic drugs resulting in an decrease in filtration or decrease in renal reabsorption resulting in an increase in urine flow.

I've been taking a combination of Lisinopril - 20mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg ( one tablet ) for quite some time now , for high blood pressure .
1. I was interested to know if it is usual to be bursting for a pee , yet when you do go , not a great amount is expelled .
2. Is there any potential problems with the the above mentioned medication ?

That doesn't sound that it has anything to do with your diuretic regime.....it sounds more like prostate problems.

No, that seems standard practice.

It is not exactly rocket science:
the drug blocks the reabsorption of sodium in the kidney and this drags water with it.
the big thing is to lose sodium

Not so....not so. it may be simple to you, but to me and others it is a little more complicated.
You have mentioned just ONE type of diuretics, the thiazides, the "old fashioned" diuretics.
There are at least 5 groups of diuretics in this modern era, all with differing actions.
You are much brighter than me, but to say that it is not "rocket science" trivialises the OP.
