She saw the doctor this morning, who put in an urgent referral to the breast clinic...that means an appointment within 2 weeks. She's quite stressed and scared...not eating.
It must be the waiting that's the worst...plus she tends to over-analyse things.
This has come at a bad time as she's just finishing her PhD research...her funding runs out at the end of this month...more pressure. At least its something to immerse herself in.

It is, as you say, as well that she has something else big and problematic to take her mind off things. Not eating is not good, does she live with you? Can you get her to drink some sort of 'meal-in-a-glass' nutrition drinks? Even 'grazing' on bits through the day is better than not eating. Sounds a bit like my dear god-daughter - who is just adding to her stress levels by starting a PhD! Will keep on thinking of you both.

I know it might sound scarier with the urgent referral but it's good for her not having to wait so long, I've had three urgent referrals and each one has turned out to be something completely benign, mainly (and Sqad is going to tell me off if I spell it wrong again haha!) fibrous adenomas.
Things like hormonal changes can play a part, she isn't pregnant by any chance is she as that can cause breast changes.
I've always found the staff excellent and the results through very quickly. There may be a questionnaire to fill in so worth asking about any kind of family history so she is prepared for any such questions. I saw a breast surgeon on each occasion, had a fine needle biopsy and ultrasound scan done on two so plenty of time should be allowed.
It's far more likely to be something benign, especially if she's young.
I wish her all the best x
