Is this possible? I have lower back ache, and a sciatica like feeling in my ovaries area. Generally quite uncomfortable around lower abdomen. However no increased need to pee and no discomfort on urination.

Totally !
I came back from a very uncomfortbaly hto holiday in Spain. We suspected despite out intake we just weren't taking enough.

I got home and had the same non specific type symptoms...exactly down to a tee !
I took a sample down, I just knew there was something amiss ..sample showed I had a UTI....3 days of tabs sorted it. You have to get those tabs ! I'll post the tabs as i've forgotten what I got !
Often it is trimethoprim....but you will need a prescription for it.
I can't find my med but I suspect the GP will prescribe one which suits.

Please go, you have no idea how rapidly those meds work!
That's it lady alex ! Trimethoprim !

Worked wonders after the 3 days.Go to your GP mandimoo.
Unusual.....extremely unusual. If it is cystitis, then there will be be a need to go to the toilet, pain or burning on passing water.

If Kylesmum says it can...and did......then it can......extremely unusual.

Take ibuprofen for the pain and monitor the situation over the weekend.

Are you in mid-menstrual cycle...........could be ovulation (Mittelschmertz)?
I used to get that prolonged dull ache on either side of ovaries in my latter years before menopause. Occasionally, it went down into my upper legs.

This started on day 6 of cycle but my cycle is very erratic at the moment, sometimes only 19 days long. Took a 30/500 cocodamol and that sorted it for overnight but it's coming back now. Will monitor & see what happens. Thanks.
mandimoo.........good thinking.

If it has not settled by the beginning of next week or, it returns at a later date, then my advice would be to see your GP as it does sound rather gynaecological which may require a scan.
