Over the Christmas break I stopped taking my pills because my clinic and pharmacy was having some problems. The fist time I got on my pills I did the Sunday method and took my pill @ 7:30 pm every night.... I just don't remember how I started it. So now i got on Thursday but this is my second time this month my period which I'm very confused about my period ends the following Wednesday I'm not sure if I should've started my pills this Sunday or the following Sunday and if I'll be able to change the time I take my pills.
Sunday is the first day of the week -that is why your pills have Sunday as the first day -not because you 'have' to start them then, there is no 'sunday' method that I know of, just start taking them now for however many days you need to and forget about 'sunday'.
Retrochic.......not my area of expertise, but for people who have "stop started or just starting, for whatever reason the Sunday Method is well publicised and excepted.
Sunday Start:
1. Take the first pill of the pack on the Sunday after the first day of the menses.
2. A back-up method of contraception is recommended for 7 days.
3. Sunday starts usually result in no periods on the weekends.
Squad - you are 'advised' to start on a Sunday but medically its not necessary ,merely a convenience. -that's what I meant. Some people,I'm sure, are that intellectually challenged that they think the active ingredients in the medication will not work unless they start on a Sunday -like some Divine intervention is necessary. ;-)
Day 1 start means you start your pills on the first day of your period. It also means that you're covered immediately by the pill with regard to contraception.
Sunday start means that you take your 1st pill on the Sunday AFTER your period starts. This also means that you MUST use backup birth control for 7 consecutive days after your first pill before contraception is effective.
Either method is fine. Sunday start is easier to remember, but 1st day start is ok too, especially now that the pill packs come with customisable "calendar" labels for 1st day starters. The two different options were offered because it became apparent that not everyone could start the pill on the same day (such as women who have irregular menses or have yet to get their periods after having a baby).
One good thing about sunday start is that you will most likely not have periods on the weekends................just a thought.
As mentioned above, I don't care which method the OP uses, i just suggested the Sunday method because of her history.
It depends if the pill being used is one where you take a 7 day break. Some pills don't have the 7 day break so it would make absolutely no difference when the pack is started.
As for avoiding periods at weekends....some women's periods last a week so that also will not make a difference.
\\\\Why Sqad? You've never had a period and you've never taken the pill. \\\
No point in a man studying Gynaecology.........a stupid comment by you.
\\\\You read the leaflets and assume it's the same for every woman. \\\\
Never read a contraceptive leaflet in my life......that i remember. Oral contraception is not "rocket science." I appreciate women differ in their response, that is why i mentioned that my posting was to the situation that the OP found herself in.
