Have just had my MRI results from an ongoing knee pain problem. Have been told that i have a torn cartilage. Will this mean an operation?
Any info appreciated

It is usually done as a day case or perhaps an overnight stay. Procedure is performed under local anesthesia with perhaps a "top up" of spinal anesthesia...depends upon the unit. You should be back to work within the week. Someone will come along with a link, so that you can read the procedure at great length

It depends.

If your symptoms of "knee locking" are affecting your quality of life and maybe if the knee is swollen, then an arthroscopy ( minimal keyhole surgery) will be advised.

You will decide as to the necessity for operation, the surgeon will give you the options.

Thanks sqad
I have to wait til middle of July to see the surgeon to discuss it. I have only had general anesthetic once before and didn't react well to it so was hoping that I wouldn't need one.
What does key hole surgery involve?
