Do you think that teachers actually care about their students? Do they care about their personal feelings, if they are sad or troubled?

My mother was a teacher. One little boy was always tired in class because his father was in prison and mother kept him up at night to keep her company. She let him sleep during class. So for sure some of them do.
Some do, some don't.
Can't improve on ummmm's answer
My father was head of a school, he and all the teachers at the school cared very much. I can't comment on teachers of today.
teachers cared yesteryear but not now - cos I think they have so many problems of their own - like one I know pay £800 of a mortgage (alone) not to mention any of their other utilities and baby minders etc. Do think it is sad but I am glad I never was a teacher.
How do you know that, Jenny?

Are you confusing teachers with Social Workers?
I don't think their personal problems have anything to do with it. Either they are of a caring nature or they are not - and it's always been so.
can I ad lib but - my cousin is a head master of a great school - I have heard that he has turned this school around and it has churned out great pupils. Lately like last year he held a night class course for class room assistants and unbeknown to him my friend done the course and achieved it - she said he was wonderful projectful teacher - she said he was brilliant so there are maybe some kind teachers out there.
you might as well ask do humans ...etc , everyone is different , sorry
ummmm how do I know what - the mortgage bit - her mother lives facing me and told me.
As Ummmm said some do and some don't, much the same as it has always been.
My son has just finished his exams and his English teacher wrote him such a lovely letter.
Jenny, you wrote "teachers cared yesteryear but not now"

How do you know?

I can't remember a caring Teacher, some uncaring ones for sure, but caring, no!
There have always been teachers who along with a brilliant interest in the education of their pupils also have a deep interest in their pastoral care - and there always will be.

Some teachers may find the pastoral side harder but teach really well in their subjects , hopefully that balances out within a school.
I know everything Ummmmm LOL
To be all knowing must be a cross to bear.
As Ummm said, some do, some don't. I did. My daughter is now a special needs classroom assistant and she does - talks for hours on the phone to me about 'her' children. I'm happy to say that some of my pupils keep in touch and count me a friend.
As stated, some do, some don't.

Funnily enough, sometimes caring for a pupil can backfire on both child and teacher! Take for examples my daughters teacher. This is her first teaching post and she's obviously gone into it a bit green. She's shown great interest in Mini Boo and the feeling's reciprocated, Mini Boo positively adores her. Great you might think! But no, im the one with tears as it's suddenly occurred to Mini Boo that she'll be moving up a year in September, but the teacher won't be moving with her.

Now we've both to deal with a sulky truculent 10 year old :-(
