sick note
okay, not sure if this should go in jobs or here.....
I've had pnuemonia, the first week I didn't know what was wrong with me and was to ill to get to the doctors. My boss was fine with me having the time off. I then attempted to go to work on the following Monday but felt even worse, and went to a walk in health centre where I was diagnosed with pneumonia. She advised me to take the week off, but couldnt write me a sick note as shes not my actual doctor. I told my boss this, and he didn't seem to mind just as long as I got better......my problem is that now I'm due back to work, everyone keeps going on about me having a doctors note and that I won't be paid without one. But how can I get one after I've been ill? If I go to my own doctors can they write one even if they didn't see me when I was ill? I'm so confused....

But its always worth going to see your gp if you are going to be off for any length of time, standard is 7 consecutive days and they'll write you a doctors note. Most employers demand one of these.
On the other hand your boss sounds quite understanding so hopefully it will all work out for the best for you.
Glad to hear you're better tho!
