Prolonged Diarrhea

Anyone suffered from diarrhea lasting more than a week? Did you go to the doctors, and what was the cause? Thanks in advance.

Yep I picked up a nasty bug from water when abroad. Took about 2 week to kick it and another to get my strngth back.

Yup. Though I hope you haven't got what I had!

It could be some nasty food poisoning like campylobacter. This sometimes needs antibiotics to clear it up.

yes me too. I work in the NHS where they are careful about such things (at least where I work). I was banned from work until 48 hours after last attack, sent to the doc  and had to provide a sample for analysis (Iknow, way too much information) the sample came back negative for campylobacter, norwalk and clos. difficile and I wasn't particularly ill with it, just really tired. It resolved over the third week and I was passed fit to work again by the doc who said that likely it had been a passing bug picked up at work and I shouldn't worry unless it happened again, which it didn't.

I had this problem, turned out it was IBS. It's calmed down alot with tablets.
