hi, i broke my toe nearly 2 years ago and didnt go to  a doctor till 6 weeks after it broke.consequently it set wrong and now wont bend.its quite fat compared to the other toes and kind of sticks out when i sleep on my front ( which i like to do!).

can i get it rebroken in a hospital ( i live in Ireland if that makes any difference to the treatment procedure) or would they tell me to get lost?!its not painful and doesn't hinder me in any significant way.thanks

I think that you need a doc's opinion on this one, there are too many variables to give advice. The doc might also have an opinion on whether it might give you more trouble in the future and therefore whether its worth doing something on that basis
I've broken my toe several times, and the doctor says just to leave it as too small to splint, so have just left them and they are fine.  Took a while to heal but no probs now.

If it is your big toe, get it looked at!!  I broke mine in Thailand, didn't want to go to doctors there, (in case I lost my kidneys or something).  The effect was that it affected my posture/way I walked, which in turn put my back out ie:sciatica, hip prob.  The extra fatness is due to ossification, where bone upon bone is grown as the body's own natural healing process.  My big toe is quite a bit bonier.

Normally I wouldn't worry about it if it does not hurt.
