Problems with flying

I am supposed to be going on hols with the missus, her parents and sisters in under 4 weeks and I'm totally papping myself about the flights. I can have bad panic attacks sometimes but getting on a plane might just send me snooker loopy, being trapped in a confined space with other people wouldn't be the best way to spend time in anyone's book but if there's turbulence or if someone starts spewing I might just jump out! Has anybody got any advice on what to do or what I should take? I need to be chilled out but not so chilled that I have to be carried off the plane cos I'm too sweepy!

And don't suggest taking deep breaths, this is gonna be (literally) miles away from that kinda thing!

It maybe worth giving Bach Rescue Remedy a try. I havent tried it personally but have read some good reports on it. It does have some alcohol in it which may be the calming ingredient, im not sure.  Heres the website anyway http://www.rescueremedy.co.uk/2005/rr4.html and i have seen it for sale in Superdrug and Boots so seems its widely available. Good Luck, hope all goes well

This may be a stupid question as the implied answer is no, but have you ever flown before? I only ask because the first time I did it was worse than I thought, but only because I didn't know what to expect. For example, it was louder than I thought and I didn't realise that the feeling when you take off is a bit like when you go over a humpback bridge too quickly in a car (only not quite as bad). After my first flight I didn't fly again for ages, then when I did, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought as I knew what to expect. There are a couple of really good books that you can buy that tackle this - it may be worth trying them? But, Bach Rescue Remedy is great too!!

Have flown 3 times before but personally I've become more panicky about life lately
In which case, Bach Rescue Remedy is definitely worth trying. I had a job interview a while ago for my dream job that I didn't think I had a hope of getting - subsequently I had the worst butterflies you can imagine which I thought was really going to ruin any chance I had. I took Bach Rescue Remedy and kept taking it (you can't overdose on it) and after about 5 squirts, my butterflies had been completely killed. Never known anything like it - I thought I was going to be sick I was so nervous and this stuff completely chilled me out in 10 mins flat. Can't recommend it enough. P.S. I got the job!
Hey youll be fine iwbus honestly, I feel very anxious every time i get on a plane but am usually ok by the time its taken off. I know its not much consolation as your anxiety is obviously a lot worse than mine but you need to think about taking things with you to keep you occupied and take your mind off  the flight. Take some good books, sit with headphones on and make the most of the inflight entertainment (that way you wont hear whats going on round you either) and if need be stay up the night before and make sure your tired out and you may sleep for the journey!!! How longs your flight?

Well done for getting the job. I had a look at the official site, it's 27% vol! No wonder it works! My bikini patrol trip may still be within my grasp
Question Author
I think it's 3 hours. That's the length of the flight, not the length of my panic attack
my daughter had bad panick attacks bought on by fear of flying (not sure if that what you have) but she went on a day course at the airport because we were flying to america on a family holiday. She was a lot better and didn't dread the flight back. Its always best to make it know to one of the stewards that you have these feelings and they keep an eye on you. I think your doctor can prescibe something for you also to help you relax without making you spaced out. Hope you enjoy your holiday
ahh youll be fine iwbus honestly, try to relax and get your BRR and youll be absolutely fine..... trust me. Have a fantastic time
