calf fitting knee high boots

other than duo botts - I am not that keen on any of the designs, does anyone know of a HIgh street shop that sells wider fitting boots for calves ( I woudl hasten to add it is muscle not fat that causes my dilema)

I feel for you - years of playing hockey have left me with the same problem! A friend of mine has just bought some boots from trusty old M&S, which are designed for wider calves. They're more a stretchy material, not leather, but are very nice and a lovely deep shade of black.

Ah!  This is the main topic at the moment in our office.  I know so many girls who need wider calved boots, but there’s so little choice.  Some styles are naturally wider than others – slouch boots do tend to come in a wider fitting than a formal type, Office are doing some.  Next do some wider fitting boots – although I hasten to add they’re not that much wider.   There are also places such as Evans who do wide fitting boots, as do www.simplybe.co.uk, although I do find these tend to be wider at the ankle too.  www.plusinboots.co.uk  specialise in wider boots, but I thought the choice was a bit limited and again, not sure if the ankles would be wider also.  Personally, I do stick with Duo, not the best choice, but would rather compromise slightly for a perfect fit.

thank you for these - it is the age old porblem - you'd think that the High Street would have cottoned on to this one by now.  It depresses me every year.  Simply be seems quite good altho maybe I will go for the Duo ones.  Just a lot of money when you can't try it on.  Do you find the Duo one's ok?

I think we should revolt against this, boots have definitely narowed over the years.  I am 5 ft 9 and weigh 10 stone so therefore fairly slim and I cant get bl##dy boots to fit around my calves. I suppose everyone should be like Kate Moss!!!!

yes I have had this problem all my life . Every winter I tried to get some boots that would go past my ankles. Last year I bought a pair from evans. Chuffed to bits that they actually zipped up and they were no more expensive than any shoe shop.

I tend to just buy lace ups.  Luckily, they're 'in' this season so I can act like I'm really with it on purpose, not just by default because I've got wider legs than a matchstick girl!

I can't tell you lot how wonderful it is to realise that I am not the only person with calves like tree-trunks!  My football/riding/cycling calves have never left me and I only ever found one pair of boots that were any good (they were gorgeous brown leather mid-calf ones by Wrangler, cheap from Matalan, and long worn-out now).

I shall be looking for boots once more with renewed zest - maybe I could even wear skirts again, if I can find boots big enough to hide my plump pins!

Just in response to your Duo question.  Their boots do look a lot better in ‘real life’ than on the website or in their catalogue.  Some may find them more expensive than some stores, but they are good quality and fit perfectly.  If you treat them well, they will last more than one year – even with extremely regular wearing (I don’t think I took mine off last year and am still wearing them now!)  The fact they cater individually for all leg sizes (and also for different ankle sizes soon, I believe) really makes them worth trying.

I agree with soozmac.M&S have fab boots that are alot wider in the calf than many other stores.They are really comfy,reasonably priced and look very foxy esp the gold ones!

I don't seem to be able to decide on a style on the Duo boots,  I am thinking of the Navia or Girona.  I prefer I htink the Navia but the heel is too low .  I think I wil admit defeat and for for Duo boots.  For the person who asked - it is a mail order company and shop in Bath which does boots for various calf widths - see www.duoboots.com

Hi guys - I've just been looking for an alternative to Duo Boots - I bought some last year and think although the style was nice, they were appauling quality (sole coming off slightly at sides, heel wearing down every couple of weeks without wearing often). I thought since they were Italian leather or something that they would last with good care.. I wish there was an alternative for boots that fit well around the calf.. let me know if you find any alternatives.

well I was excited by some boots at Evans on their website, but alas it was not to be as they are too big round the ankles and even too wide for the calf.  somewhat comforting in a small way but still leaves me with noboots, but fantastic suggestion!

Hi, I have always suffered with this problem as well, I tried Evans but as someone else said the Boots were too wide, they had lotsof different ones and some were better than others, but wider fitting tend to have wider ankles which makes my legs look even worse, I can;t believe that as the "average" Uk size is now a 16, that the majority of people fit "standard" boots

I bought a pair of black duo boots last year and I was so made up to at last find a pair that I could zip up!  But this year I want a 'trendier' pair, tan coloured so I can tuck my jeans in, and duo boots are all so classical.  I've found a lovely pair on simplybe.com which are adjustable via a buckle on the calf, but they're out of stock!!!!  By the way, the vivaladiva.com website is the same as the simplybe shoes section. 

If anyone knows of any other places that sell boots that will accomodate my chunky, but toned calves I'd be most grateful!

www.bucklesandbows.co.uk are a very similar company to Duo Boots. I  have the opposite problem (skinnier than Kate Moss!), but didn't like the styles on Duo boots either. I'm just about to order a pair - keep you all posted!
