i don't think it's a recognised medical condition as such. My take on it is that you just hve so much to remember/learn that the unimportant things (like remembering to wear two of the same shoes) just falls out for while, so that the super improtant things like making sure a baby doesn't starve etc can get done.
Lack of sleep and conversations about anything other than sick or poo also contribute. It goes away after a short while

What about not remembering where you parked your car?
A scientific article I read a while ago said that contrary to popular belief, overall new mothers actually proved more alert, and thought it was an evolutionary advantage as there was the baby to protect from the perils in the world.
Are you talking about senile dementia?
I didn't really suffer with it.

How far gone are you?
I never had baby brain. Congratulations by the way.
In my experience, it was quite a while before I reckoned I was back to normal.

During pregnancy I had that dozy, slightly detached feeling about things...not necessarily unpleasant but sometimes annoying for others. Mostly I had it at the start, I think, then it went away nearer to the birth.
After the birth was a total muddle for weeks ...but then so it is for everyone, especially for the first baby .
Overall I'd say it was about 8 or 9 months after the birth until I was feeling almost back to my pre-pregnant self.
Congratulations and try not to worry about it.
By the way, I have always struggled to remember where I have parked my car....it's the hardest part of shopping as far as I'm concerned.
Lol Lady. I left my car in a supermarket car park because I forgot I'd driven. It weren't until I got home and got my keys out did I realise.
I haven't quite done that yet, Ummm, but only because the supermarket is too far away from my house to walk there.
I try to park in the same place every time I go now so that I have a chance of finding it.
And I cannot tell you how grateful I am for the remote car key things now that flash your lights when you press them...a godsend!
I won't go into my lack of any sense of direction ......
Hi, NoM...as I'm much older than Ummmm's Mum I can't remember when it starts......but I do know it ends when they leave home......

Congratulations.....Gx....☺
I thought you were the same as as her :-) she's very young really....
1950, Ummmm.....though you'd never think it!... ;-)
She's 1952...away with fairies, in a nice way :-)
Me too, Ummmm...I have a sign in the hall telling folk that....but the fairies are fun company...x
