My wife and daughter have both just been diagnosed with this.
Reading the information on it seems to suggest it is a 'cover all' for a huge range of problems.

Is this a genuine condition or has it been invented to cover anything the doctors can't pin down to anything else.

Oh it's very real, I was diagnosed some years ago and I've covered the majority of problems in the list, some easier to deal with than others. I have to say that once I got as far as the rheumatologist (I assume you've seen one?) I've never been met with doubt from professionals although there will always be non medics who view you as a whinger or that you're exaggerating your symptoms.
Do your own research, I have to say the US has been way ahead on this but this country has improved greatly recently.
This is a good place to start

the problem is there is no test that can say "this is fibro" as it is mainly a collection of symptoms, so in a sense you and robina are both correct!
