I did once JJ many years ago - maybe mid 1980s.

It got the desired result.

Yes and also ones of complaint....I'm still with the surgery ( sometimes unfortunately!) but I think if the need is there to put things in writing then it should be done 'in the nicest possible way' of course. Hope you do what you feel is needed and it turns out well.

Sometimes a letter is easier to lay out than a hurried phone call when you don't always get to speak to the person you want - these days I'd just make an appointment and talk it through often talking a written list of notes so nothing got missed.

Can I ask -

Is it a good thing to post/leave with receptionist - rather than making an appointment and letting her/he read the letter whilst I am there.

This would be important. Thanks

If it is about you personally address it FAO 'your named GP'.

If it is about the practice, address it FAO 'Practice Manager'.

I'd post it, then I don't need to think about who opens it.

ok Mamy - I will just put FAO - said doctor and leave it with receptionist.

I do hope receptionist will NOT open it. Would she????

Oh forgot to ask - when you got desired result Mamy - were you informed by post again or asked to "make an appointment to see her".

Can't you email your GP? Only he/she will have access to that.

Can't recall so long ago, I was just glad to get a result.

All paper correspondence is scanned at your GP surgery (by the Receptionists) and then attached to your records on their computers.

A little help please.

I have said "I would like" twice in the same para - need to change "I would like" to something similar.

Then off to GP - perhaps I will post.
