How Can I Have Sprained My Foot Without Realising?
26 Answers
One minute I'm fine, cooking the evening meal. Then when I sat down to eat, my foot suddenly starts hurting along the outer edge and across the instep like a sprain. I didn't fall, slip or twist it so how can it just flare up without warning? Mr L sprang into action with the elastic bandage, Deep Heat and painkillers, and after an hour or so elevating the foot, it feels a little easier but still not right. Any ideas on how it happened?

Well you can and the most commonest cause would be bunions (have you got them?) or developing arthritis.
Cuboid ligament damage is a cause...rare...and usually follows an injury.
Time will tell.......in the meantime Ibuprofen would seem to me to be the drug of choice.

Thanks sqad - thankfully no bunions and I hope am not developing arthritis but unfortunately have reached an age where that could happen.
Tony - Thanks and pleased to report that after a night's rest all is fine today, barely a twinge. Will try not to do anything too strenuous today. Thanks to all. x
