I am OAP, female, and will have a short stay in Hospital. Apart from nightdresses, what else should I pack?

I'd take baby wipes for freshening up (cheaper than pricey cosmetic ones) a nice hand cream, hand sanitiser, brush/comb of course, towel.

Magazines or a book.
Towels, toiletries, baby wipes, tissues, knickers, slippers Pen/notebook/puzzlebook/something to read.

I'll have a think....
Toiletries, slippers, dressing gown, books/magazines.
Dressing gown
earplugs for a decent nights sleep
Something to drink....not brandy :)
Still thinking....
Any medication you usually take but you probably know about that.
Small amount of money for newspapers etc.
Mobile phone.
one of those battery operated fans is useful...charger for your mobile....
Nobody's mentioned toothbrush yet.
Knickers, bra, and maybe rethink the nightie and take pyjamas?

Baths

That is of course if lynbrown is female.........;-)
Sqad, she says she is and she ought to know.....If you are planning to wear a bra may I suggest a soft one?
I used to take my own soft loo roll, but theirs was very scratchy at one time. Probably better now.
LOL....woofgang........good point.
Lyn, may I wish you well for your stay - hope you're soon home and on the road to recovery.
When you get your admission letter they will list the essentials they need you to take. You can then just concentrate on the things you need to prevent boredom.
To the other suggestions I would add lip balm. My lips always dry our in hospital.
They'll bring round jugs of water regularly but it would be worth taking in a smallish empty bottle that you can top up and keep in your cabinet in case they forget.
Possibly pen and paper. I was in once for an oral biopsy and couldn't speak afterwards. I also had enormous trouble getting painkillers so maybe some aspirin or paracetamol but make sure you tell them what you are taking.
Definitely earplugs as suggested. The ward can be very noisy. I finally got to sleep one night only to be woken at midnight to be asked if I wanted a sleeping tablet. Again, I imagine things have moved one.
Have you got an iPod or can someone lend you one?
I would always take my tablet and charger, the internet can help to while away the hours. You could come here and "talk" to us.
