I posted the above question a while ago, and yesterday, my poor Dad FINALLY got a diagnosis - he has Parkinson's. He was referred to a geriatrician in a local hospital, who was very thorough and gave him the diagnosis while he was there. No doubt about it.
You would think that the gift of Parkinson's was the present of the year, so pleased was he, to know what it is that's making him feel so unwell, particularly the horrid pain he's getting in his neck - a symptom of Parkinson's apparently.
What puzzles me is that all the times he's been in hospital, all the blood tests and GP appointment, why it hadn't even been suggested.

He's seen at least 6 different doctors but not one even suggested testing for Parkinson's. It's been pitiful to see him, crying, asking what's wrong with him.... when all this time he could have started medication. The neck pain apparently was an obvious indicator. The way he shuffles too.

There are no diagnostic tests for Parkinson's Disease as it is only diagnosed on the history and examination.
I must say that on the criteria that you gave, the diagnosis on P.D was certainly not obvious, but perhaps to a Neurologist it was clearly suggestive.
However, well done and now he can get on with some treatment.
