Eleena......no the thyoid gland can be producing not enough thyroxine ...underactive and that is treated with thyroxine or similar thyroid hormones OR it is producing too much thyroxine in which it used to be treate with surgery, but now with carbimazole.
Simple thyroid tests will tell you which way your thyroid is acting...too little or too much.
Please be aware that the above is a simplistic approach to thyroid disease, but is accurate.
Years ago, the 70s, I as put on carbimazole initially, then a thyroidectomy, then thyroxine. I've spoken about this before with you, I always wondered if surgery was needed. I suppose each case is different as you say.
