Rib Injury
21 Answers
Sqad; I tripped and fell landing on my chest onto a wooden bedpost last week, pain excruciating! Ambulanced to local hospital, x-rayed and ultra sounded, rib displaced but not broken and "lucky spleen not damaged".
Pain is still very bad and yet I should be driving to France tomorrow and on to England Thursday, but have conceded this morning that it would be stupid, so trying to unbook hotels, tunnel crossing and various appointments.
My question is, from experience how long do you thing I might be in pain before it starts to heal?

The return ticket for the tunnel - already paid - has been extended to 'open' for the next 8 months, which is good. My main concern now is waiting for a decision on a £1,000 deal with a hotel in the Cotswolds, the terms and conditions of which are, no show still pay, which would be pain on pain.
Since the moment of injury, curious to know why am I belching air all the time, is it something to do with pressure on the lung, does anyone know?

Sorry to hear of your mishap khandro. The pain must be terrible for you. I guess you just have to be patient with this one. Not sure about the belching
You're probably taking short breaths due to the pain. Do you have your mouth slightly open when doing so? You could be swallowing lots of air which is causing belching. Hopefully sqad will be along to reassure you. All the best.

Belching ? No big deal, I agree with the explanation of Patsy33, you are swallowing air rather than inhaling it.
If there is one particular spot that is painful to touch and your travel arrangements are critical, why not see your GP, explain the situation and he may suggest an injection into that spot.

Certainly, it is worth providing the medical evidence to the companies you have booked with to show the cancellation is due to a genuine reason and see if they would rescind any charges/penalties.
I don't know the dates of the hotel booking but if there is time they ought to be able to try and re let the accommodation and if they do, then they should make a refund/waive the charge. if you can find someone to take the booking over - let the hotel know a.s.a.p.
Do you have a travel insurance policy to claim any costs back?
