Body clocks?

Do we have 'internal' body clocks? iyswim
Th reason I ask is that my 2 year old daughter wakes at 5.30am every morning regardless of what time she goes to bed. It doesn't matter if bedtime is 6.30pm or 10.30pm she will still awake at 5.30am :o(

Research suggested that we do tend to be either a "morning lark" or "night owl" - think it's something to do with brain chemistry and hormone rushes and responses to light. They also thought it might be realted to the time of day you were born - this is true in the case of my partner and I: he was born at midnight and only ocmes to life at around 10pm when I am just off to bed (born bright and early at 6:30am). I'm sure you have already, but have you tried black out curtains in her room?
Hi, yes we sure do have body clocks and they can cause a lot of problems if you try to mess with them, see this http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn7300
My body clock is a bloody nuisance sometimes, like now when it's half term, like Maggie I'll be awake early every morning when I could still be fast asleep! On holiday in Florida it took my body clock a few days to adjust and unfortunately the first morning I was awake at 2AM (7AM here - my normal getting up time!).
