As mentioned on a previous post, my doctor told me that my blood pressure was slightly high. I have to go back to see the practice nurse next week to have BP taken again so thought it would be an idea to buy a BP machine to monitor myself in the mean time. Just taken a reading and its showing 132/82.

Arrgh, I was still typing when it posted... Was going ask if this is anything to be concerned about as a normal reading should be 120/80, or so I believe.

And of course the header should read BLOOD pressure
Not too bad, Nailit, but could do with being lower.
Are you trying acupuncture? :-)

I suffer from pins and needles Tills :)
Age is a factor, too - useful info in this chart

Thanks for that link hc, I'm 51 so appear to be ok. Don't know why GPs always try and scare you? Was told a while ago that my cholestral was high as well (it was 5.5) and doctor tried to get me on statins. Do they get commission from drug companies or something?
Try changing your doctor, Nails..and your acupuncturist!
Your total cholesterol level should be below 5, nailit.
It's not too bad Nailit but I think doctors like to see it no more than 130 /80. I'm the opposite, I took my BP earlier and it was 89/58

Total cholesterol....not too bad.......could do better.
That TOTAL includes "good " and "Bad " cholesterol and we haven't got your results for just the bad cholesterol, which may be normal level, so no worries,
BP the same......not too bad....could do better.

Nowt wrong with my acupuncturist Tills, he's very thorough, as you can see!
hc, cant see why I should be on statins though when my cholesteral is only slightly above the the norm.
Buy some Benecol, Nailit, instead of using dripping.

Isnt that a bit low patsy?
Thanks for that Sqad, feel a bit easier now. My GP's always seem to be trying to push pills on you for one reason or another.

Lifes to short NOT to enjoy dripping Tills...
If I could give one piece of advice to anyone, particularly men, it would be..........monitor you blood pressure. For some reason the medical profession do not flag it up until there is a problem, although they do tend to take it if you need a doctor's or medical appointment, madness. We should be telling all our children to monitor their blood pressure. When you do, it is not half revealing of how lifestyle and general "mental" well being is so important. Keep an eye on it Nails and you will learn to walk away or swerve situations that impact on your BP.
Lol you are now changing Avatars with panache after nearly having meltdown to get the original one. :))

Is there any truth that stress affects BP? Always thought that was a bit of myth.
