I was shocked to get a cold on Friday, as it was the first in well over a year but it never really took hold and was completely gone when i woke up this morning. It got me thinking because I never seem to get ill, and if I do it seems to disappear very quickly. In 15 years of school, university and work, I've had about 1 week off with illness in total, and i was wondering if some people have better immune systems than others or whether I could be boosting mine without knowing. It also extends to injury as well really. I've played sport every week of my life since i was a kid, including high contact sports, but never broken anything, or torn any muscles etc. That has to be luck doesn't it? I'll probably end up with bird flu now having said that ;)

I'm sure I'll be fine (cough, cough, squawk). Oh dear..

Well you are very lucky, supernick!! Immune systems can be shot to pieces by taking drugs, usually- steroids, immunisations, antibiotics. Since you have never been ill, your immune system is obviously as God intended! Also, because you play sport, you are obviously a good example to rest of us who don't, and abuse our bodies and take them for granted!!

Just keep doing what you are doing. If you get a cold, treat it like you always do. Don't take any drugs for anything. Basically, don't mess with the great set up you now have!!x
