Ha ha! Took a minute for the penny to drop.
Sqad = I could start a thread about shoes - then proceed to advertise airport taxis.

There doesn't need to be a link between where you start and finish if you're a spammer.

It's all guesswork as I didn't see all the replies.
Maybe the answers weren't germane...
... so the OP found himself in a spot of bother...
Thanks Ellipis - can't imagine why it was pulled.
Question Author
Ellipsis...that was just one answer, when i contributed there were at least six answers, all sensible and informative.
Me too Sqad. I added a comment debunking the myth that if you have measles as a child it will stop you getting shingles as an adult. I should know.
Yes, the Google cache was a bit behind the times (which is why it's still there now). Google is quick, but it's not real time.

Looking at the cache, the OP contains a bit.ly link. I would guess that is why it was pulled. It's a spammer, posing a question then linking to an answer.

The OP was a spammer - they made four posts and all of them contained spammy links, so he/she was banned and all their posts, including the thread in question, went too.
the ly link was to a series of adult measles - albeit in Ceylon that was
and I learnt a bit

delay in diagnosis as it is not considered and so on

and that is more than I can say for about 60% AB replies!
BA for Doug again !
Question Author
P.P....can you translate your above post for me.......please? ^^^
allow me, Sqad

the link was to an article about adult measles in the former Ceylon. It was quite informative - mentioning such things as diagnosis being delayed by several days because the medics were unaware adults could have measles.

PP learnt something from this, which he does not from most posts on AB.
Question Author
jno.....LOL.....thanks.
I must say the article linked to didn't look like anything I'd call spam; it wasn't trying to sell anything and as PP says you could actually learn something from it (though not a whole lot).

I also think the cached version of AB looks nicer than the real one.
Question Author
jno......well I thought that my contribution WAS informative, but when I pressed the submit button, there was nothing to submit it to.
AB posting is like walking on egg shells and one wonders if it is worth the effort.

" also think the cached version of AB looks nicer than the real one."

I totally agree.
Ta for explaining Ed, I didn't see the other posts by that OP only the one discussed here.

It is a shame if something informative goes along with spam but those are the rules, we have the choice.
Tis the way of the world, mamya. Next time I have adult measles I shall start a proper thread.

Interesting to read a morbidity analysis the other day. Historically huge numbers of children died young and measles was the number one cause, which I didn't know.
well if it was a spam about measles I'm glad someone ' spotted' it
Question Author
jno....yes....not only the way of the world but the way that AB is going.......
I don't know about the number one cause of death in the UK but i think that the figures were about 1,600 children who contracted measles died. It was a devastating illness and as i mentioned in my "removed" post, only Drs over retirement age have ever seen a case of measles, but in an epidemic, a GP might see 5-10 cases a day depending upon the size of the practice and revisiting them routinely was a logistic nightmare ......it couldn't be done.
The main complications were middle ear disease and pneumonia and there was a fierce argument as to should these children be given antibiotics routinely to prevent these complications.
I think that there was an outbreak in Wales some years ago which was blamed on the reduction of parents immunising their children with the MMR vaccine.
Pity the thread was removed .
