My husband went to pick his laptop up yesterday and felt a searing pain in his back, he had done a lot of lifting on Saturday, but has had problems years ago, so ther may be a weakness. I have had 3 back operations to a prolapse disc, and his pian is not quite the same, I have been giving him Arthrotec tablets, and he can now walk a little, but is still in great pain, would you consider consulting the doctor or is ther anything they could really do? We do not want to waste the doctors time,

Many Thanks,

I use a Bio Tens Unit (search Google). They help a great deal with pain.

Either get him to a doctor or get one in, that's what they are for

I have just recovered from back trouble, I suffer periodically, obviously, there are different types of back problems, which is why you should get him to a doctor, to doctor/physiotherapist, to pinpoint if possible which one it is, my problem, 'lower back', according to my work physio, is the softening of the discs that are attached to the spine, nowadays they just prescribe painkillers and anti-inflamerties,(sorry about the spelling), move about, I find a walking stick sometimes helps, and sometimes a weightlifters belt, when he's better, normally 1-2 weeks, he will have to avoid, if possible, bending from the waist, although you should be able to pick up a list of exercises from your local GPs or Hospital, good luck, he's the one in pain, but your the one who'll suffer,

The only thing that worked on my OH's back was a trip to a Oesteopath and a Sports Therapist, he was clunked back into place and had a deep massage and could walk straight again not sideways as he had been! Chiropracter and Acupuncture where no good, Acupuncture actually made it worse for him ...

Oh and Chessman lmao, SOOOOOO true!!!

any exercise that strengthens your core stability muscles in the back really help. Yoga, pillates or using one of those big exercise balls are reccomended. If he has any pins and needles or tingling bellow the site of his injury, he should see a doctor.
