Now I am 60 years young, I've decided to go for the chop, my hair has never been shorter than shoulder length, I now feel as though I need it shorter, Any ideas on low maintenance short styles please.

a short bob but straight and graduated from back to front..if you know what I mean ?
bit like Eileen on Corrie ?
Page boy style can be quite attractive.
How about a Judi Dench style pixie cut?
Question Author
Not keen on the Eileen, bob Murraymints, and Clover I think I would have to be really brave for the pixie cut.
Question Author
Thanks Murray, lots of nice styles there will just have to choose the one which is the easiest to manage.

Get yourself a number one and no maintenance aside from getting another next time.

You need good bones and pretty ears to carry it off - I have no idea if Ms. Salad has either, neither or both, but it does need a certain facial structure to look good.
Well I went a bit mad with mine when I hit 60 in January! I had a number 6 all over and dyed it purple. I loved it and was glad I had done it.
I have since let it grow a bit longer, probably about Judi Dench length. I have stopped colouring it, but, if I'm honest, that's because I'm lazy and cba!!
Enjoy whatever you do. It will always grow again.

Thank you for ideas O_G OH has a number one haircut so will give that a miss, Andy my ears are not bad I have high cheekbones or so I'm told, Judi Dench pixie cut is a bit to short for me, and Jakep good for You, I'm going to get it dyed pure silvery white once it's cut short.
Is your hair straight or wavy/curly?
Question Author
Straight Tilly
Well, Minty's picture might be just the style for you. You won't have to work hard to get it straight.
I got my hair cut short not so long ago and it's harder maintenance than having it long.
Question Author
That's what I'm worried about ummmm I am always scraping it back in a ponytail at the moment and it looks a bit severe, I feel I need something a bit softer.
You'll have bedhead.
Have you thought about getting a fringe put in?
I had mine cut short not long ago but as my hair has a wave in it, I can get away with washing and finger drying it. No messing about with styling brushes and straighteners.
