Now I am 60 years young, I've decided to go for the chop, my hair has never been shorter than shoulder length, I now feel as though I need it shorter, Any ideas on low maintenance short styles please.

Mines curly too. I forgot how curly it was as it had been long for so many years.

Maybe I could have a bit of a perm not a tight curly one just wavy
When you go for the short tussled look they do look great but they are more effort than you think. The look usually requires products and blow drying.
Don't have a perm, FS. Not if you're used to having dead straight hair.
The hardest style I ever had in terms of maintenance was a pixie cut. It needs putting together everyday when I had hoped to just run my hands through it.
I have a short tousled haircut and it has to be done everyday I get away with putting a bandana in at weekends but it’s time consuming
Perhaps go shorter gradually
I'll come back to this thread later tonight when I have trouble sleeping ;-)
Have you got hair, Melv?
Yup, a head full, Tilly.
Jolly good!
Hardly any maintenance at all for mine. Wash every morning in shower, blow hair dryer over it and repeat in 24 hours.

I've booked the appointment, I will see what the hairdresser suggests, she's good at short styles, apparently.
let us know how you got on, FS.
Interesting......can you imagine a bloke posting this question.....and can you imagine another bloke answering with this "Cliverjo - // How about a Judi Dench style pixie cut? //

You need good bones and pretty ears to carry it off - I have no idea if Ms. Salad has either, neither or both, but it does need a certain facial structure to look good."

What makes an ear pretty or not pretty?
Well I know my ears are not pretty, and that's why I have shoulder length hair. fruitsalad asked for ideas for a short hairstyle, so I guess she has nice ears. (I hate my big lobes.)

I think Andy- Hughes' input was welcome. It's good to hear what men think about things like this.
I intend no criticism of anyone....it was just a passing thought....and I am still not sure what makes an ear pretty or not pretty
I do see your point woofgang. I know a woman who thinks her ears stick out (they don't) so she always wears her hair over them- but men will shave their entire heads with no worry about what their ears look like.
Any news on the long/short front? I won't be able to celebrate the new year without knowing :-)
