Breakfast
112 Answers
One of my big downfalls is I skip breakfast. I do try very hard to force down some toast or some cereal or some yoghurt but the truth is, I dont really like this stuff.
I do quite enjoy a continental type breakfast though with cheese and sliced meat.
Would the weight loss benefits of eating a continental style brekkie be better than none at all? I've got about 5 months to shift a stone and a half.

Eating breakfast not only gives you fuel for the day, it should stop you snacking mid morning. It's a good thing to do, but exactly how you benefit will depend on whether you snack on high calorie stuff mid-morning now, or force your body to wait until mid-day before taking on nourishment. Have whatever appeals to you, but check how much energy you're having. I favour toast usually, but have been known to substitute the odd bowl of healthy porridge instead.
Thanks all. Fact is, my diet is awful. I do eat a sensible home cooked balanced meal in the evening, but I dont eat ALL day. I just drink vats of coffee (no sugar, but one sweetener).
Mind you, I just weighed myself and according to my almost new scales I weigh a stone less than I thought I did! Hmmmmmmmm

If you don't like breakfast don't eat it. I know it's supposed to be 'the most important meal of the day' according to grannies (including mine) but if you don't want it don't eat it.
A newspaper columnist recently wrote that she'd lost her last few stubborn pounds by just not eating breakfast.
I couldn't do that. I feel a bit wrong if I don't have a slice of toast at least.
Here's the non scientific bit. I have heard that if you eat nothing all day Barmaid, your body holds on to all its resources, or body fat, because its not sure when the next meal is coming if at all. If you were to try a small continental breakfast and a salad or soup lunch, small wrap etc and do it regularly, it will learn to release the energy and not hold it in reserve. That way you will lose those few extra pounds.
Here you go Jahluaye...I'm not trying to change your mind, just giving you something to think about.

Lol Shoota. To be fair, I havent weighed myself for ages, but as I walked out to the car on NYE, I had to hold my skirt up. Arent you meant to put weight on when you are happy?!
I've just been researching loads and ALL my research says you have to eat little and often but balanced plus exercise to lose weight and I know my way of eating is, frankly, shocking.
