Ginger Hair
64 Answers
Would you research whether your partner had ginger "genes" before beginning a long-term relationship with them?
I ask the question because a lot of ginger children suffer low self-esteem due to bullying etc, and, the reality is, going through life with ginger hair can be a distinct disadvantage to many people. In some countries, such as Denmark, they turn away ginger-haired donors due to a lack of demand.
When planning a family, is this something you would take into consideration?

Spungle clearly wants what she thinks is best for her future children and red hair seems to bother her..........that seems reasonable to me.
The couples of yesteryear would meet, fall in love, have children and take what came..........there is now a different attitude. marriage is less popular and sex is not confined to the betroths, having sex out of marriage, children out of marriage and women wanting to follow a career as well as being a mother. Many women want children, but not necessarily a long monandrous (?sp) relationship but would be interested in the ......."designer baby". This concept has been around for many years, but is now becoming a reality. A designer baby, designer sexual relationship and a designer life style.
"rollacks" is a bit harsh on the OPer.

It isn't something that would ever cross my mind.
However if that is how you wish to plan ahead ,do so - there are no guarantees you'll get what you wish for.
Happy and healthy is hopefully the outcome, then a parent's job begins - to inspire confidence and teach how to approach life.
Ginger/Red hair is divine.

Unfortunately, I'm grey now. But there are still hints of the deep auburn I was...as were my brother and sister. I've always been proud of my hair...yes, I did get teased. Got called carrot top and ketchup head...;-)) That was in the States...where there doesn't seem to be the stigma or prejudice there is here. So, no it's not something id take into consideration. Researching someone's genes is not what relationships should be about.

It doesn't matter Minty....Not only do they have a lovely hair colour they also tend to have unusual eyes. All the gingers in my family, including my OH, have hazel eyes, they change colour daily.
When we go on holiday and it's sunny 90% of the time his eyes are green. When it's wet a grey here they are mostly light brown sometimes with a hint of blue.
He always wears factor 50 and sits in the shade :-D
