mazie .it was a 6 hour op then they kept him in recovery for 6 hours as he was having apnea and kept stopping breathing, they let me sit with him at 6 .30 as I was getting really worried when he didn't come back to the ward.he is in quite a bit of pain and discomfort and got an infection in one of the incisions ..has 7 dressings ,four look like where they keyholed ,but it's out of him now and prognosis is good xx
Best of luck for both of you. Having been a carer for my mum in the past, my advice would be to take care of yourself too. Go out for a coffee, sit and read a book, have a long bath etc. A little time for yourself won't impact the care you give to your husband and it will help you feel human :-) all the best and I'm so glad his prognosis is good!
I will spoil him ,just told him i'm getting him a bell so he can ring for me .he said he feels a right wimp ,doesn't like feeling helpless ,so I told him not to be so daft as he has had a big op .xx
Encourage him to get up and about, bum on sofa all day is not good for recovery. Even if he wanders to the kitchen to ask for another cup of tea now and again.
All sounds good mally. So pleased it's turned out positive. Fingers crossed for some lovely summer weather. Sitting in the garden recovering. You take care of you both. Xxx
I hope all goes really well for your hubby Mally and he has a speedy recovery. Hope you cope too as it's often so difficult being the carer, keep your chin up. Each day at a time xx
