Does Anyone Remember The Thick Yellow Emulsion Used On Scraped Knees At School?

It was in a brown round bottle and was liberally dabbed onto grazes. It didn’t sting. It wasn’t iodine as such. I have in mind maybe it was called bromaline or something similar? I could be wrong. Any ideas I am talking about 1960’s

Thank you for your input but it wasn’t betadine. It had the consistency of callomine but wasn’t chalky and was yellow.

We always had either dettol ointment for scrapes and cuts or Zam=buk which you can still get.

Possibly 'Fuller's Earth' cream, powder or solution. Still widely used today.

Acriflavin was the stuff... but Zambuck or wintergreen ointment was another go to in our house along with germolene. The acriflavin was only used by the school.
There was another remedy - golden eye ointment for sties, and yellow bazelican basselican I don’t know how it was spelt but this was used on splinters to “draw them out”. By the way my mother used to give me Vicks on a spoon with sugar to “ grease my tubes” when I had a cold. It’s a wonder I am still alive.

My Father in Law used to have a small spoon of Vicks Vaporub at night - hardly bears thinking about.
