Having passed out last Wednesday night I went to my GP on Tuesday for a check up. I appear to have quite low blood pressure.
Apart from drinking loads of water which I usually do anyway is there anything else I need to do. I've looked online but would like ABers recommendations as well.
It seems that low BP is in vogue at the moment.
I have never rated it as a disorder, just a symptom.
The commonest cause is patients who are taking BP reducing tablets and dehydration may also be a cause.
There are also very rare endocrine disorders which may cause this.
what would i do. NOTHING.
Drinking water will just make you urinate more.
Monitor the situation.
Sqad...I was found to have very low blood pressure at the age of 18. Every time I see a doctor and they take a reading I'm asked if I feel dizzy or faint. My last reading was 78/26....That's not 'in vogue'!!
I have been in medicals practice for 60 years and i say that this "low BP" diagnosis IS in vogue at the moment and i reiterate it is a symptom and not a disease.
GP said to drink 2ltr of water which I've been trying to do although not quite up to 2lts. And yes, I seem to make rather a lot of trips to the loo. Not good when at work!
I need a coffee first thing in the morning to get me going, Ummmm, and then one when I get to work. I could try drinking something else. I don't drink anything with caffeine after 12pm and I'm pretty much tee-total.
Over the past 20 years I have suffered from high BP and low BP. High BP can be controlled my medication, low BP cannot. Of the two, give me high BP any day. I have spent the last three years in and out of hospital because of falls caused by low BP. When I fall I am unable to get up again.
This is the first time I've ever had a low bp count as its always been normal up till now. Passing out like I did scared me as its never happened before although I've felt faint a few times in the past.
Eating more salt is supposed to raise blood pressure.
I don't want to recommend it, as we're all told not to eat too much salt, but that's what I've read.
I do this myself as I feel faint and dizzy every time I stand up.
Do you use public transport to get to work? One good way I found of upping my water intake is to drink a bottle of water on the way to work, then refill it from the water cooler at work, drink what I can at work then refill before I leave and drink that on the way back.
Wish I could Eve, but my bladder hasn't been the same since I had Little Tigs. Thought of being stuck on the bus in traffic and in need of the loo fills me with dread :((
Tigger.......this has been an appealing thread with just bad advice and some of which has been just dangerous.
I didn't want to associate myself further with this thread, but i cannot just stand by and see you receive ridiculous posts.
i know that this is a hopeless request, but please follow my advice on my first post.
