My sympathy!
I have similar pain in the base of my thumbs, and activities such as knitting and sewing, using kitchen knives are increasingly uncomfortable if not, at times, painful. If you google it, you find it's quite common and unfortunately there isn't a replacement available such as with the knee or hip.
I agree with Sqad - ibuprofen in the short term - or likely the doc will prescribe something like Naproxen plus a gastric tablet. It will give a few years relief, hopefully.
Another thing to try, is rethink how you do things, different angles, different gadgets perhaps, making a task into a 2 person effort (sometimes that's tough to concede!).
Best wishes.
