Purple Blotches On My Arm.

Got two of these purple blotches on my arm. Two on right, one on left.
Had these before and fade After a week or so.
On lots of medications.
Could it be that?

We call them old age bruises, been getting them for ages

They are quite common, can indicate underlying causes ( though not always)and yes, some medications may contribute - if they bother you get them checked next time you're at the GP.

I used to get them as a result of having a low platelet count.

They are quite common when you are elderly and on medication for COPD, which I think you have.

Yes I have COPD amongst other things.

Could be......doubt it.
No idea how old you are, but if you are 65years old plus, they are bruises where you have knocked your arm,eg door knob, due to the thinness of your skin as you get older, particularly if you are on Aspirin.

Theland, I am on Prednisolone, a cortico-steroid, and I get patches of discolouration on my skin, similar to your description. I've been told the steroid can cause this. Don't know if you are on a similar medication, but if so, it could be a contributory factor.

If any of your medication includes Warfarin then that could explain it.

Octasa, Tamsulosin, Carbocisteine, Citalopram, Ramipril, Omeprazole, Statins, Prednisolone, Zapain, but no Aspirin.

Your blotches sound like senile purpura. "Senile" because people over 60 years get them, and "purpura" comes from a Latin word that means "purple". I get them, and have done for the last 6 years or so. They appear after I have put my hand/arm muscles under some kind of stress: lifting shopping into and out of the car; using a hammer or screwdriver; pulling or pushing something weighty. They are harmless, don't hurt, so I just ignore them. My GP didn't think that they were worth bothering about.

At 68 I think my skin is letting me down.
