Which is it...sedation...general anesthesia?

Acid reflux will not affect either.

General anesthesia.
The anaesthetist will speak to you prior to surgery. There are certain drugs, procedures and equipment they will use in order to negate the affects of acid reflux.
This itself will be minimised as you’ll be starved prior to the op anyway.
Best of luck.
OK...then my post and particularly the post of Chilldoubt are relevant and helpful.

Thank you all. Its just when l had a spinal block with sedation, when I had knee replacement surgery. I had over 12hr sickness even after I was given anti sickness meds. So worried that it might happen again.
When I came round in ITU after cancer op several years ago I asked the nurse for my Gaviscon out of my sponge bag. He consulted with the Sister i/c and came back with two 20mg of Oemeprazole. Been on that ever since including pre heart by pass over a year ago. No worries.
