Beginning To Be A Little Concerned About This Leg Of Mine
68 Answers
Went on holiday 14/9/19 to the lovely Fife. Great cottage, but Sun. 15th I stepped into the shower and the shower-mat concertinaed under my foot and I went flying. It was a shower-over-bath and the mixer tap raked my right shin in my fall (about 3"). I went to Cupar Minor Injuries Unit and was patched-up with 3 steri-strips to hold the gash together and iodine-infused dressings. On return visit there, just before we came home, they professed themselves satisfied, stuck a dressing on it and waved me bye-bye.
Today I am beginning to become concerned. Below the wound my leg is very red and hot and also noticeably more swollen than the left leg - if I press it the depression lasts for some time. Of course it is the weekend and no local doctor's surgery available. Just asking if anyone thinks it is serious enough to bother A&E because if so I'd rather get there before the influx on Saturday night. Thanks.

In my experience it can take up to 48 hours before the antibiotics really start to work, and you feel some relief. But now you are in the system, you will get all the assistance you need. As always, thank you all. It's really very painful now under the dressing - I hope that means it is gathering and concentrating the pus. I'd to ring a 'Dressings Centre' for an appointment on Tuesday latest. The first appointment they could arrange was Wednesday, so I've to ring my GPs. tomorrow morning and try for an appointment with the nurse. Since they are out in the villages doing 'flu jab' clinics on Tues., I'm not hopeful. Well, if necessary I shall hop back into the M.I.U. at Bridlington and take a picnic and good book. :(
Thanks for asking hellyw. I had a better night and it was less red and swollen in the morning, but now it's sore and almost as hot and red again. I actually managed to get an appointment with my surgery's nurse tomorrow late afternoon, so feel happier about that - there'll be a doctor around if she's worried and they know that I don't fuss about nothing. :)
