Cold and flu symptoms last 7-10 days. Cold and flu symptoms with "tablets" last 7-10 days but with less disability.

Vagus not needing to, and not eligible for, are two different terms.
Both times I have had the flu I was young and fit (mid teens the first time, late 30's the second time) both times the after effects lasted a lot longer than 10 days, although the fever and aches did subside by day 10.
maybe spath means he can't get the jab on the NHS?

I'd rather spend £5 on a pack of cold & flu being the age i am

It's good for your antibodies to fight illness now and again.

Rest assured i won't be spluttering on anyone if i'm ill or not and if i still have these symptoms by the end of the month I shan't open my door to young trick or treaters in case they catch my illness

Anyhow, i rarely associate with the frail ;)
No, not a cold. I've had other illnesses though.

i'm not eligible for the free NHS jab is what i meant to clear any confusion
Indeed woof, HELP prevent, not 100%, but we’ll worth having the jab.

// I've not a reason the get the flu jab, I'm fit (usually) and young //

I got real Flu just after leaving the RMs, so I was fitter than most,
it laid me out to the point that the only way I could get to the bathroom was to roll out of bed and crawl to it, it's not a good experience :o(
Yes aunt polly, I do know what the two terms mean, and in spaths case they both apply.

Baldric i've heard people who have the real flu wouldn't want to get out of bed for a fire, and would contemplate just defecating their pajamas if it saved moving out of bed

Thank god i've not got it anywhere near that bad
Why do some people think only very young, very old or people with chronic health issues get the Flu? Anyone can get it, and die from it even these days.
"The Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, the deadliest in history, infected an estimated 500 million people worldwide—about one-third of the planet’s population—and killed an estimated 20 million to 50 million "

I'm going to ask the Miss to pop to the Spa and get me a large packet of peas, some root veg mash and bisto so i can have a bowl of half healthy slop
Spath if you have a chest infection that's not the Flu. If its a bacterial infection then Amoxycillin will help but you have to go to the GP for that and no amount of Lemsips are gonna cure you, :-)

Thanks for the concern aunt pol but not that many people in the middle bracket of very young and very old do get their flu jab as far as i'm aware. It may be something I could consider, sure.. but usually when you're in good health you turn your nose up at such things and my condition at the moment certainly is more cold than flu.
spath Turning your nose up at a vaccination that prevents disease, 'because you are healthy' is a bit selfish, and I know plenty of young people who do get the flu jab, students for instance. Hey Ho Whatever, Hope you feel better soon but please think about the Flu Jab.
I had the flu once. I will never mistake a cold for a flu - I was extremely ill and it took me weeks to recover properly.
Lloyds Pharmacy is offering the flu jab for £11.50. I'll pay for yours if the money is a problem, spath
Yes, I've had it only the once in my late twenties when I was very fit with an outside job. It floored me for 10 days, at one point I just wanted to die. :-(
We get ours done as a family at Tesco.

money isn’t an issue, it’s more a lack of knowledge on them.
