Has anybody else had a bad reaction to this year's flu jab? It's the first time I have reacted badly and I've been having them for many years.

No, I haven't Nellie, but my friend for the last two years, has felt shivery and headachey several hours later. Always better the next day though after a good night's sleep.
No, I had mine a few weeks ago and was fine. My parents had the 'other' flu jab and were also fine.
That's why I don't have one
What sort of reaction do you get, brainiac? I've had them for many years because I have severe asthma and have a tendency to get chest infections. When I had the flu (before I ever had a flu jab) I was hospitalised. I have never had a reaction so I'm curious.
What's the 'other ' flu jab , HC ?
Question Author
I had mine last tuesday I felt shivery on Monday night and ran a temperature and felt very tired for two days, and that apparently is common. Yesterday ì felt better and we went out for the day Now the temperature is back, I keep sneezing like I have an allergy and have an upset stomach. I feel quite weird actually, shaky and anxious without any reason. I do suffer from allergies. The huge painful lump from the jab is calming down now.

The other in is for over 65s. Apparently one jab is for two strains and one for 4 strains.
Getting mine on Monday morning, oddly enough it'll be injected by a huge lump.
not this year but last year I was flat on my back for 4 days then very shakey. I usually have a rough 24 hours, achey and headachey but this year nothing at all.
Bazille, the NHS are giving three different flu jabs this year, the standard one, the children's and a different one for the over 65s. I don't know why.

I hope you are soon better, Nellie.
Had mine 6 weeks ago - no reaction whatsoever.
Is your appetite normal?
Question Author
My OH is fine though. I was perfectly OK before the jab.
the over 65s one also has an adjuvant in it to stimulate a stronger immune response
they gave a different one for over 65's last year as well

Thank you hc.

No ummmm. But it was yesterday and now it's not again. I sort of feel very much like I am having an anxiety attack, but with a temperature.

I didn't have one last year Woofy and i got the flu!
Question Author
It's probably due to the jab having a stronger immune response. I have a condition which makes me susceptible to allergies.
My memsahib and I had our jabs at 0827 and 0836 respectively this morning. So far we have had no reactions but I mentioned to the memsahib that I experienced a metallic taste as soon as I got in the car. That taste has dissipated and memsahib didn't taste it at all. 'shrug'. In the twenty years I have been having these jabs I only got one uncomfortable reaction about 10 years ago. I reckon if I got the flu this would be my last post without the jab. :-)
My doctor told me if the appetite goes it's one of the first signs of being ill.

It's so hard to force feed yourself but you need food. I eat fruit when I'm poorly.

Have a hot Whisky! Lots of sugar xx
