All evening I have been in a very negative place thinking about past and present hurts. I went to bed. I got this feeling of terrible dread like something terrible is about to happen. Then I stupidly went on Google and it said a sense of impending doom cam mean an imminent heart attack. Now I am sitting up in bed convinced something awful is going to happen and I have no evidence apart from this feeling any idea what I can do

Glad you were better in the early hours, Gordie. That feeling of doom is typical of panic and anxiety. Been there, done that. As others have said, distraction technique help a lot.
Take care Gordie, I hope things improve for you x
Not sure about the impending doom bit but I get anxiety attacks and palpitations on a regular basis these days. You're not alone.
